Frequently Asked Questions
Obscura is a secure password-sharing platform developed by Prairie IT Services Ltd. that allows users to generate self-expiring, encrypted links for sharing confidential information. It is designed with privacy, security, and user control in mind, ensuring that shared passwords do not persist longer than necessary.
Your password is encrypted using industry standards before storage. Each password entry is assigned a unique salt, ensuring that even if two users store identical passwords, they remain uniquely encrypted.
Important: Obscura never stores plaintext passwords, and encryption keys are securely managed to protect sensitive information.

Once a link expires, the associated password is automatically and permanently deleted from our system.
Expired links will display a generic message:
"Password not found or no longer available."
If you need to access a password again, you must ensure you save it securely before the link expires.

No. For security reasons, passwords cannot be recovered once deleted or expired. Obscura is designed as a temporary, secure sharing tool, meaning we do not retain a backup of encrypted passwords.
Obscura does not log or track stored passwords. However, for security purposes, minimal metadata (such as timestamps and access logs) may be temporarily stored and periodically wiped during scheduled cleanups.
